The ONLY two things you have to be concerned about Stix is the PRICE/COST of dining here and lack of ambiance. The sushi and sashimi is excellent and the service good. However, dinner for 2 with one beer and 2 glasses of wine was $110. If you are thinking you'll get out of there for less you're mistaken. I personally will not go back as the price point is simply extreme for this part of the South and the kitchen had a fryer alarm that kept going off making the ambiance all but non existence. If you have plenty of money and don't mind the alarms going off I recommend the Sashimi Platter and Autumn Sushi Platter.

Husband LOVES the sushi, lettuce wraps and spring rolls from Stix. I like these as well, but the Pad Thai with beef is my favorite. We always sit at the bar and service is fast and attentive.

Every time I go home I stop by here. The best sushi around. When I go to a sushi place I always compare it to this place because it's the absolute best! The red dragon is amazing!

I use to work close to here and grew to know the owner well. Technically, yes this is a chain but there are only about 5 total - So, the country is not drenched with these. For lunch I get the ginger salad, crab wontons, and clear soup and Las Vegas Roll and for dinner at the hibachi I get the salmon... HOME RUN! Great place. When I lived and worked in Spanish Fort I ate here at least once week.

One of our favorite local restuarants! The dragon roll is a must have! Great atmosphere too.

No. Went while Christmas parade was going on in fairhope. They were busy, but for what we ate - I don't know why. Shrimp were so over cooked you needed a knife to cut them, edemame were withered and old, sushi was extremely fishy. (Sounds funny I know, but good sushi isn't) Waited 20 minutes to be served at the bar. My wife's white wine was served in a hot glass. Service continued to decline through "experience". I waited tables for 5 years... Believe me the service was bad. Go somewhere else.

My husband and I dined at this location of Stix on Saturday. The atmosphere is relaxing and the music (jazz) was perfect. The service was attentive but not intrusive. We LOVED the spring roll appetizer and we had the Ginger Broccoli with Beef for our entrée. The portion size was large and we definitely could have shared one. We will dine here again when we are on the Eastern Shore!

The hibachi was excellent. Steak was mouthwatering and they gave us enough veggies. Very big shrimp. The sushi was subpar but everything else was off the chain. Can get a bit pricy. We spent over $100 bucks.

Been here 6 or 7 times, Love the sushi here. Everyone is really nice. Love my Dragon Roll.

The food here is pretty good, but they can not make a cocktail!!! I have had the worst time ordering drinks here, vodka gimlet (which is maybe not the straight forward liquor + name of mixer drink, ie rum and coke), but they just never could get it. Then I tried to ask for a vodka soda with lime, but got a vodka tonic. So gross. Food is ok, service is acceptable, but the bartending has always been super off.

Gee I hate to disagree with so many of my Yelping friends, but this place stinks! Yes, it is a chain, and yes, I dislike chains. However I have eaten at Stix in other cities and, at least last night, this one was by far the worse. 1) Service was horrid. The hostess stand was empty and we waited minutes to be seen and seated. 2) Is my standard iced water with a straw some sort of difficult task in Lower Alabama? 3) Out of vodka? Really? Now my date is not a happy person... 4) Seaweed salad was old - almost slimy. 5) Rolls were boring. Way too much rice. Two rolls took over 35 minutes to be delivered, which is not good when my friend was without his vodka. 6) The ginger was white! And tasteless. My only guess is that it was frozen? 7) The wasabi had very little bite. The place was not crowded and it looks like any other Stix I have been to, but the service was cold and very slow. Presentation was a C- at best. It is on my "never again" list. Master Joe's in Fairhope does not blow me away, but thus far is my local sushi go-to place. We need to support local businesses anyway.

Sushi is alway fresh and the portions are plenty. I like that they will gladly build you a custom roll. Latest time we were there our waiter was very helpful and knowledgeable on the menu.

My husband and I tend to always get the same thing and share: hurricane roll, volcano roll, and orange peel chicken, plus ginger salads. We walk out happy and full with a few pieces left over. So good and worth the money every single time!

I come here mainly for their calamari, crab wonton, yellowtail sashimi and seared tuna tataki! I always ask for thin sliced Jalepeno on the side. My husband loves their chicken teriyaki!! I recommend this place if you want fresh sushi/sashimi!

Good food. I've been twice now and I haven't had anything I dislike. Service is a bit slow. The food makes up for that!

This used to be my favorite restaurant and we ate here at least twice a month. The service got so bad we quit coming. After a year I finally convinced my husband to go and try it. The hostess seated us in a booth where we needed sun glasses. When I asked to be moved she would not move us to a spot where the sun wouldn't be in our eyes and instead moved us to the worst table in the restaurant. The service fotunately was good because we had to shovel our food down before we were totally blinded. We will NOT go back! They need to hire better hostesses!

This is my absolute new favorite place! The service was great! Not only was the food fantastic, it was also entertaining! We will be going back soon! The Hurricane Sushi is a must! It was fresh and very tasty!

The food is very authentic :) when its made right in front of you and made from scratch, you tend to like the cuisine even if its not ur favorite! Chefs do a couple of tricks on the stove counter. They are not pros, remember.. So stay a little away from the counter when they try the spatula and the fire tricks.. Just a precaution. It might hit ur glass of water with ice and and get splashed. Or food might fall out of the table. I Enjoyed authenticity and had a good time !

Stix is the southern equivalent of the West Coast's Benihana. There are hibachi grills, performing "chefs" and lots of energetic staff. It's all a bit cheesy but thankfully the food is pretty good. The one thing that made me sit up and take notice were the shrimp. They weren't sad little farmed numbers, they looked to be gulf shrimp, which are sweeter and finer than any of those commercials jobs. I could have survived on those bad boys with veggies and skipped everything else, including the sushi. I know, I know, what the hell am I doing ordering sushi in this locale? My goddaughter was craving it and so I agreed to share with her. Ugh, that was a poor excuse for sushi. The sashimi was pale and anemic and the dragon roll was drenched in awful-sauce and could barely rear it's head, much less shoot fire. My chicken was perfectly cooked and the fried rice seemed to float everyone's boat, fried and sauced within an inch of it's life. As an added performance bonus the fire alarm went off during dinner and stayed on for at least five minutes. Yikes! Figure that one out kids or you're doomed, for sure. Good thing our virile, young "you sure got a pretty mouth" waiter kept us distracted. Next time, no raw and ear plugs, just in case.

Stix has always been a favorite of mine. Great food, great employees, and etc. I usually always order the the steak and chicken hibachi combo that comes with fried vegetables, fried rice, ginger salad, and onion soup. The ginger salad is literally to die for. The chicken is always amazing. The friend vegetables are okay, I've had better. The fried rice is excellent. However the steak is either a hit or miss food here. It's either really good and cooked to perfection or it is cooked way to long (especially when I ordered it medium well) to where the outsides are almost burnt. Thus it is why I give Stix 4 stars.

I don't know if this is a chain restaurant or not but as far as Japanese steak houses go this one is one of the best. We sat in a booth and split a hibachi dish and some sushi. The prices were a wide range. You can order cheap like we did or you can go all out and get the most expensive thing on the menu with the combo dishes. Overall the prices seemed right for what you got. The sushi tasted great like any dedicated sushi restaurant I've been to and the hibachi was flavorful. I've heard good things about this place but wasn't sure because of the size, some places like this are chain restaurants and seem to want more quantity and less quality. Our server was attentive, food was of high quality, and they still had plenty of room for the quantity. We will be back for sure to try the hibachi and to sit at the sushi bar!

Finally swung by for a quick bite around lunch time today as I was killing time waiting on the wife to get done with her secret Birthday shopping outing. Walked right in and sat down at the 10 - 12 person sushi bar and was pleased to see that I was the lone customer in that part of the restaurant. Day manager took my drink order, Kirin, and returned promptly with a pint - apparently they have it on draught - what a treat! I opted for a light lunch - miso soup, cucumber salad, 2 tuna and 1 salmon nigiri. All of the food arrived within minutes and was well prepared. I also had the pleasure of seeing a few beautifully executed rolls departing for what I'm assuming was one of the parties dining in the hibachi area. I'll definitely be trying them the next go around when I have more time. Wait staff was very friendly and chatted me up about movie releases, the new iPhone, and other niceties. Do yourself a favor and give this place a go. A+

I've eaten lunch at Stix a few times over the past couple years. The food has consistently been good / very good; service has been hit and miss and if I was basing this review solely on my yesterday's experience, I'd be gracious if I gave them a 3. I love their sushi - it's fresh and delicious. The $20 7 piece platter is the best buy. They also offer half rolls (just 3 pcs instead of the 6-10) for those who just want a taste. Hibachi is delicious and enterntaining. The choices are not much different from other hibachi places I've been to. They have a nice variety of appetizers; the lettuce wrap is my favorite (it's not what you would get at P.F. Chang's, not even close but it's still delicious). They offer a few soups and a couple salads. I like their wok dishes and noodles, they come with ginger salad or soup (or so it says on the menu, we never got ours). The servings are very generous, so if you are not too hungry, the food can be split between two people. All in all, it's a very decent place for sushi, hibachi and Asian; they just need to replace some of the bad apples among their staff.

Place is bit dirty. Miso soup is mostly water. The plus is it has very fast service. And maybe as a consequence of that my salmon came undercooked, raw and cold on the inside. I asked to take it back and it took forever to get it done. My party finished their by the time I got mine.

Top notch sushi and hibachi restaurant. I've been here a few times and it has been consistently good. The sushi is fresh and they have a nice variety. The hibachi is great as well, very entertaining and the food is solid with large portions. Great place for a group if you have a birthday or family event. Not cheap but you get what you pay for. Servers are pleasant and trained well, chefs are fun and good at their job. Bar is one of the best around, again a bit pricey but worth it for the overall experience. Great decor and ambiance.

We've eaten at Stix several times and found the food to be excellent. It's usually crowded and the service is a little slow, so wouldn't go there when you're in a hurry. So far, we've only tried items from the Asian menu; looking forward to trying the hibachi next time.

This is the second time we ate there. We have ordered Pad thai noodle, orange chicken and some sushi. We are really disappointed, the pad thai was just boiled flat noodle stir with some sweet sauce and penut source. And also 4 pieces of beef. They didn't even stir fried the noodle. It was really sweet. Tht's a total failure dish. For orange chicken, it taste like pre-packaged food like those you could buy from Walmart. HWY98 Chef King's orange chicken is a lot better than them. Sushi is normal, no wow! Environment is nice. Don go there if you are really looking for good food.

Dinner with a friend, 2 sides to the restaurant, a quiet table side - we chose, and the raucous loud hibachi side - we did not. We had a sushi appetizer - the godzilla roll, it was tempura shrimp in the center, it was made nicely, it came with ginger - very little and wasabi, which you needed a microscope to see. I then had the seafood treasure as my main course and my friend had the pad thai. The seafood was cooked well, there was no spice, I asked for mongolian fire oil and got a blank stare from the waitress, I asked for srirachi and she said she would bring it and never returned to the table until we were ready to leave, she never serviced our drinks during the meal. She must have been overly busy with 4 tables and 3 waitresses on our side of the restaurant. Her tip reflected her service. Maybe, maybe, if I go back it will be to the hibachi side where i wont have to deal with a wait wait wait wait tress.,

Not the best hibachi grill I've been to, but the customer service was great when I did go taking in the factors that happened. It was Valentine's Day and we had a very interactive person that was grilling for us. My date proceeded to drink entirely too much. I thought I lost a Sake Bomb challenge and started to do my little chicken dance around the place when my date made up her mind to vomit all over the grill and table. After I got back from my dance, I was shocked at what I saw and started apologizing to everyone. The manager came out and patted me on the back while explaining that things like this happen. He then went elbows deep into cleaning it up. I don't think I could have done that and had a smile on his face the entire time. He would then crack jokes when I went back in there after that and was super nice about everything. Best customer service I've ever seen. Poor guy though. I wouldn't wish that on anyone.
